That’s it. I am, momentarily, a free man: I managed to leave my job with a decent settlement. Contrary to other industries, investment banking operates in an odd way in these cases, if you are leaving; you do it on the spot. There is no hanging around. It took less than a morning for everything to happen, a quick meeting with the personnel department to negotiate your settlement and you’re quietly sneaking out through the back door. I’ll be certainly meeting my (ex) colleagues for drinks in order to say a proper goodbye.
This opens an exciting new chapter in my life. Should I find another job straight back, take this opportunity to go back to study or go travel for a while? For my local fans: don’t worry, whatever happens, I am staying in London. Meanwhile I plan to relax and enjoy my gardening leave…
